What is a GOOGLE Alert?

From: Cubaroots@aol.com
DearMYRTLE,
What is a Google Alert and how do I sign up?

DearMARIE,

If you go to
www.Google.com and search for "Google Alert" without the quote marks you will get to:
http://www.google.com/alerts

From this website we read: "Google Alerts are [free] email updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, etc.) based on your choice of query or topic.

Some handy uses of Google Alerts include:
-- monitoring a developing news story
-- keeping current on a competitor or industry
-- getting the latest on a celebrity or event
-- keeping tabs on your favorite sports teams
-- Create an alert with the form at
http://www.google.com/alerts ] "

So, these are a few of the alerts Ol' Myrt has set up:
ancestry
Ancestry.com
family tree
FamilySearch
genealogy

Happy family tree climbing!
Myrt :)
