Each November, our family gathers from hither and yon to share a large meal, and draw close in prayer and thanksgiving for the blessings of the past year. Here are just a few of the pics taken at our family gathering this year. You can see I have much to be thankful for.
Here I am in a posed pic with my three wonderful daughters as we stand in front of my piano. Left to right: Stacey, Carrie, Ol' Myrt and Tammy. Note my father's handmade dictionary stand at far right.
Here is a picture of our centerpiece, made by grandsons Tracen, TJ, and Tannon. They used a milk carton and construction paper to make a "Mayflower". Throughout the day, we wrote on individual strips of paper about the things we were thankful for, then read them back as we enjoyed our pumpkin pie later in the day.
My youngest grandson, Tyler is pictured below with his mom, my daughter Stacey.
Below you'll find a picture of my grandson Braden and his father Taylor.
I am thankful for friends, both far and near who know me, and love me despite my faults. I am thrilled to have my daughters and their families living close by at this time, so there is lots of time for me to tickle the grandchildren.
At dinner we used Great-great Grandma Frances' silver serving spoons and tray, and Great-grandma Blanche's cut glass serving bowls for pickles, olives and cranberry sauce. Great-great Grandma Myrtle would have been pleased by the way we cleaned the turkey wishbone and are saving it to make a special wish at Christmas. Ahhh... traditions.
Happy family tree climbing!
