How simply delightful to meet many of you at the 2009 Southern California Genealogy Jamboree 26-28 June, at the Burbank Marriott Hotel and Convention Center, in California. Here is a pic of the Bloggers Summit II: Son of Blogger posted by Facebook friend and fellow geneablogger Katheryn M . Doyle.
Pictutured from left to right:
Lisa Louise Cook, Dick Eastman, Schelly Talalay Dardashti, Ol' Myrt, Craig Mason, Ancestry Insider, Leland K. Meitzler, Stephen J. Danko and George G. Morgan.
George served as moderator, and polled each blogger for responses about:
- the type of blog (news, family, how-to, etc.)
- software used (most used blogger.com)
Attendees included experienced as well as soon-to-be-bloggers, and perhaps the most interesting part of the event was the ten-minute break, where were could get into small groups and talk about particular items of interest.
Next year, I'd like to see the room break up into smaller groups again, but for a longer time, so that the individual panel members could be querried by attendees on such topics as:
- add-on software
- layout and design
- adding the blog to Twitter, etc.
It would probably help if each of the panel members gave a brief synopsis of what he/she is planning to discuss during the break sessions, so that participants can choose the sub-topic of choice.
Just thinking out loud.
Happy family tree climbing!
