ProGenealogists Hires Pro Branding Whiz Detjen

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah—September 16, 2009—ProGenealogists® , the world’s leading genealogical research firm, announced today that nationally renowned branding and marketing expert Jim Detjen has joined the company as Vice President of Marketing. Detjen, who will report directly to founder and CEO Natalie Cottrill, will lead the firm’s strategic brand design and management, as well as its global advertising and marketing communications. In addition, he will be responsible for creating and expanding key corporate-level alliances, which include industry leaders Ancestry.com, BBC, Discovery Channel, FamilyLink.com, National Geographic, PBS, Showtime Networks, and World Vital Records.

In 2001, Detjen, a Seattle native, became President and Chief Creative Officer of global strategic design firm Katapult Design. Under his leadership, Katapult achieved worldwide recognition for uniquely sophisticated graphic and brand solutions. Detjen collaborated on highly-recognized brands such as Apple, Coca Cola, Fa├žonnable, Guinness & Co., Mercedes-Benz, and Victoria’s Secret.

A decorated US Army veteran, Detjen graduated magna cum laude from the University of Utah and is one of Utah Business Magazine’s “Best and Brightest Leaders Under the Age of 40.” Detjen is also the founder of ONE.SIX.ORG, a political news gathering and opinion website with a national readership. In addition to his new responsibilities at ProGenealogists, he serves on a number of distinguished corporate, editorial, and community boards.
