Genealogy Blog: One fine example

DearREADERS,
If Ol' Myrt here can stop the flow of tears long enough, I'll tell you about a marvelous series of genealogy blog posts that spotlight an ancestor's journey from slavery to homesteading. Bernice A. Bennett documents the story of her 2nd great-grandfather with pictures, scanned images of documents, footnote citations and a video.

Dear, dear Bernice,
I found your email via LinkedIn in my spam folder of all places. I am glad I didn't just empty it without looking. I've spent the last hour working through the several detailed pages about your 2nd great-grandfather and find them noteworthy. I am writing a blog post, pointing folks to your work.

The combination of a well-documented time line, scanned images, footnote citations, and pictures makes this a prime example of how genealogists can use the internet to honor an ancestor.

The addition of the video places this all in historical perspective -- very touching.

I was simply brought to tears when I realize how much work you put into reporting your findings about this ancestor. Your work is a fine example to us all.
