Follow-up: FHISO or GEDCOM X

DearREADERS,
In response to yesterday's post FHISO or GEDCOM X, Oh My!Anonymous writes Thursday, July 19, 2012 7:33:00 AM:
"Is GEDCOM-X meant to be a transfer method between programs and individuals for the purpose of easy sharing OR a method of programs and on-line sites to 'link' into the FS Tree."
The current GEDCOM is the method of creating a file to import and export between different genealogy software programs AND to upload to or download from online family trees at major genealogy sites.

GEDCOM import/export capability is different from two existing scenarios, that relate to specific websites.
  •  Ancestry's Family Tree Maker (Mac and PC) syncing data to and from an Ancestry Member Tree at Ancestry.com
  • FamilySearch Certified desktop software connecting to online trees at FamilySearch.org
Happy family tree climbing!
