This is a call for webinar hosts and presenters to join the GeneaWebinars Calendar. If your society has scheduled a series of webinars, be sure to join the calendar to advertise your events across the broader genealogy community.
Webinars are a popular "remote access" learning tool, where attendees log in via the internet to view a live event from the comfort of their home or office. Alternately, the presenter could "appear" remotely to a gathering of a local genealogy society for their monthly meeting. The key phrase here is "no commute". All it takes is high-speed internet access and a computer with speakers. For a generic technical description, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webinar. Most genealogy webinars are conducted using GoToWebinar.com where the organizer typically pays for the account. Access may or may not involve a fee to view the live event, or to view the recorded event.
The GeneaWebinars calendar and related blog were created by Ol' Myrt here shortly after RootsTech 2011 to describe Genealogy Webinars, shortened to GeneaWebinars. That's when I realized a whole lotta learning was going on, and that a centralized calendar would assist potential attendees to register for a particular event.

GeneaWebinars is not owned by any of the webinar hosts or presenters, but is a not for profit group designed to get the word out about upcoming events. We use free tools at Blogger.com and Google Calendars, and Ol' Myrt here underwrites the minimal annual cost of the .com domain.
Send Ol' Myrt a request including your Gmail account for access rights to the calendar and blog.
Provide your website and public contact info.
Believe it or not, I have been approached by several travel organizations who don't do anything genealogy-related, so I declined to add them to the mix. I made the same call with a firm from Japan that sells mugs with heraldic imprints. I hope you don't mind my picking and choosing who can participate in this manner.
If you've got a Google Account, you have the ability to add the GeneaWebinars Calendar to your list of Google Calendars. You merely:
1. Go to www.GeneaWebinars.com
2. Click the "Calendar" tab across the top navigation bar.
3. Scroll down to the bottom right corner of the calendar, and click the '+Google Calendar" button like the one reproduced here below:
4. Your web browser will follow the command, and open a new tab where you can now see the GeneaWebinars Calendar in addition to your others. You won't be able to add or modify events on the calendar, but it helps to coordinate your education goals with your personal calendar.
