Several have written to inquire about the "new" piece of equipment used during last weekend's presentations at the Fairfax Genealogical Society's annual spring conference. Cousin +Russ Worthington snapped a pic that includes a view of the Epson Document Camera, the cream and silver zig-zag contraption that connects directly to my computer projector.

Because the document camera works like those big clunky opaque projectors from our high school days, it is easy to show iPad finger controls to swipe, drag, drop, select, copy, and paste. Screen shots wouldn't have proved adequate. When a question came up about an app that was on Carrie's iPhone, we were able to swap out the iPad and insert the iPhone. A book or a piece of paper could also be readily displayed using this document camera.
The Epson Document Camera is available from Amazon.com and is currently priced at $299, a good $50 less than I paid for the same a year ago.
Happy family tree climbing!
