Mondays with Myrt - 2 December 2013

DearREADERS,
The famous Ed Sullivan used to say "We've got a really great 'shew' for you tonight!". Same goes for today's Mondays with Myrt that starts in about 30 minutes. You'll find directions for JOINing and VIEWing the live Hangout On Air below my signature.

WHO THE HECK IS ED SULLIVAN?
From Wikipedia.com - "The Ed Sullivan Show is an American TV variety show that originally ran on CBS from Sunday June 20, 1948 to Sunday June 6, 1971, and was hosted by New York entertainment columnist Ed Sullivan.[1] It was replaced in September 1971 by the CBS Sunday Night Movie, which ran only one season and was eventually replaced by other shows. [2] In 2002, The Ed Sullivan Show was ranked #15 on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time.

SO WHAT'S OL' MYRT'S PLAN TODAY?

60 Minutes on CBS last night features an interview with Amazon.com CEO  Jeff Bezzo, who described a 5 year plan for innovative product delivery. This morning the LA Times reports With Prime Air, Amazon plans to deliver purchases via drones. Seriously? We shall see.

"You know you are a genealogist when you are watching a TV show and a character has the same surname as your brick wall ancestor and you find yourself hoping he'll mention his parent's name."

From the "Leave no stone unturned" Department: Apparently our ancestors' sleep patterns were very different from our own. See: How Our Ancestors Used to Sleep Twice a Night.

Michele Simmons Lewis explains Don't forget your recent relatives in her blog Ancestoring this morning.

Speaking of blogging, +Tamura Jones gets that Mondays with Myrt is a video blog. Thanks for the shoutout, Tamura.

WCVB (Boston) reports Texting tightens family bonds according to a University of Nebraska study. Though "nearly 150" doesn't seem like a big group to study, Ol' Myrt agrees with the premise based on her familial experiences. What's your take on texting?

Speaking of families, there have been several articles attempting to answer the question "Just what IS passed down through the genes?"
Share a Memory Contest -- The winners will be announced today in DearMYRTLE's Genealogy Blog.

Cyber Monday Book Deals - Did you know our friend +Craig Scott of Heritage Books is offering 50% off of books during the next five days. This is to celebrate having 5,000 books in print. See his website: www.HeritageBooks.com for details.

Happy family tree climbing!
Myrt     :)
