Mondays with Myrt: An EXPERIMENT! - 16 December 2013

DearREADERS,
Dylan said "...The times, they are a changing" and Ol' Myrt here believes in most cases, change is good. This is especially true when new a feature of Google+ Hangouts on Air is rolled out. For the past 11 months, participants have had to wait to find the link to appear just before a live HOA, but but now there is the option to see the event scheduled with a sharable link far in advance of the actual event.

This means no hunting around for the link. It's there, ready for you! You may not only add the event to your Google Calendar, but you can see the "grey box" scheduled Hangout on Air right in the event notice. Here's a partial screen shot of what it looks like if you click to JOIN too early:

Don't ya just LOVE the countdown feature? Go check it out here:

Now you still can comment over in the DearMYRTLE Genealogy Community, located here:

But we will EXPERIMENT over the next few weeks to see if the comments can remain within the event itself. Our concern is that in the past, iPad users could not read more than two lines of text.

THANKS to Google programmers for making our life a little bit easier. Here's the link to the EVENT for this coming Mondays with Myrt:

YES, you do need to log in to Google+. If you don't have an account you will be prompted to create one.

Happy family tree climbing!
Myrt     :)

  2. Dear MYRTLE,

I have followed this route when this was rolled out the other day AND it works.

We may have to watch how it impacts us, as Joiners and producers.

    Love the count down ....
