Alternatives to Family Tree Maker

UPDATED: 3:17pm Friday, 11 Dec 2015
This week's WACKY Wednesday hangout brought to our attention the special offers from various genealogy software producers, most enumerated in Randy Seaver's Other Genealogy Software Options to Family Tree Maker posted in his GeneaMusings blog. Be sure to read the comments to Randy's post for additional information for European residents.

For those from many countries throughout the world, we find out about an offer from MyHeritage with over 40 languages capability. From Daniel Horowitz, Chief Genealogy Officer we learn:
"At MyHeritage, we believe there is still a place in the world for genealogy software, and there is value in the ability to work offline, and enjoy more powerful functionality that many websites cannot offer. We also believe that people should be able to discover and preserve their family history on whatever platform they are comfortable with. That's why we are constantly innovating new technologies and enhancing our website, mobile apps and our Family Tree Builder genealogy software.
We are delighted to offer FTM users who move to MyHeritage, and who choose to sync their family tree with their MyHeritage family site, unlimited tree size capacity on their online family site, which is normally limited to 250 individuals on a free account.

Please see the blog post here which includes information on how to claim this gift, and let me know if you have any questions."
From Audrey, company rep at Heredis:
We have learned that Ancestry will stop selling its Family Tree Maker software at the end of the year. We invite Family Tree Maker software users to try the Heredis genealogy software.

In addition, we offer - 50% on all Heredis 2015 software until January 3: a good opportunity to change the software. Heredis accepts the GEDCOM format for transfering your data from Family Tree Maker software to Heredis for Windows, Mac and mobile devices.

Happy family tree climbing!
