Mondays with Myrt

What's new in the world of genealogy? Got a question about where to look next for that elusive ancestor? Let's talk! Come on over to DearMYRTLE's Genealogy Community on Google+ as we hold our Mondays with Myrt Hangout on Air.

A newsy, "across Myrt's desk" event, exploring all types of genealogy research techniques, challenges, technology and such. Mondays with Myrt is about working together to get around those brick walls, sharing what we’ve learned in a relaxed format.

We are using Google+ Hangouts On Air for this event.

Noon Eastern US (New York)
11 am Central US (Chicago)
10am Mountain US (Denver, Salt Lake City)
9am Pacific US (Los Angeles)

Before and during the live Hangout On Air you you may comment about the topic at hand. Just go to:  In the screen shot below at:
  • Yellow A points to the category "Myrt's Next Hangout."
  • Yellow B indicates 23 more lines of text in my original post, so click to view them.
  • Yellow C points to the video viewer. It's gray because the Hangout hasn't yet started. If you click that right-arrow button, you'll see how many days, hours and minutes before the scheduled start of the Hangout, according to the time zone of your current viewing device.
  • Yellow D notice already three comments have been posted, and the Hangout isn't going to be held for a week.
NOTE: In this example, Ol' Myrt here has asked for sample proof statements in advance of this study group session, so that each example can be studied for accuracy.

Just go to:
IF the particular study group or hangout permits random visitors, like Genealogy Game Night does, then Ol' Myrt or +Cousin Russ will post a specific link to JOIN the panel as shown in this screen shot below. The first ten people who JOIN will appear on the panel and should have voice and video capabilities. We open the "green room" about 15 minutes early for video and mic checks.

The auto-archived version of a Google Hangout On Air appears usually within 30 minutes of the close of the recorded session. You will find it on DearMYRTLE's YouTube Channel

But why? It's a lot more fun to find the video in the archive on Google+ where each hangout's video, comments, and all links mentioned during the broadcast are together in once place!

So it's simple. If you value the work Ol' Myrt, +Cousin Russ and our beloved panelists do week in and week out on your behalf, please:

Check the GeneaWebinars Calendar for exact dates of DearMYRTLE study groups and Hangouts on Air, in addition to over 200 hours of online genealogy classes, webinars and tweetchats from other hosts and presenters in the next 12 months.

Happy family tree climbing!
