Online Lessons worth looking into

From: Betty Walton
Is there a way I can get online workshops for genealogy? I need baby steps please. Thanks.

While it is certainly preferable to join your local genealogical society, and attend their classes, there are indeed many places to learn about how to become a competent genealogist on the web.
Here is a sampling of free, but worthwhile sites:

-- Ancestors PBS series (great for beginners!)

-- RootsWeb's Guide To Tracing Family Trees

-- Brigham Young University Center for Family History & Genealogy is located at:
See their PAF Tutorial:
And the Census Tutorial:

Also the variety of locality- specific courses:

These are excellent course offerings but require a fee:

-- GenClass

-- NGS Home Study Course

-- National Institute for Genealogical Studies

Happy family tree climbing!
