Just read your latest Blog and notice a perhaps Freudian slip - all through your use of TNG for The Generations Network.
Now TNG is a truly fine product produced by your fellow Utahan (is that the right word?) Darrin Lythgoe to put genealogy online - see my
for a fine example of a page displayed using Darrin's software.
And yes, the Ancestry search infuriates me at times too.
And Darrin probably feels a little better too - he's getting into people's sub-conscious :-)
(Or are you a Star Trek fan?)
Thank-you for pointing out Ol' Myrt's mistake. Yes, I did like Star Trek: The Next Generation with Patrick Stewart playing the role of Captain Jean Luc Picard from 1987 – 1994. Purists perhaps prefer the original Star Trek episodes with William Shatner as Captain Kirk.
My inadvertent use of “TNG” rather than “TGN” in my last blog entry was unfortunate and very confusing. As you’ve rightly pointed out, TNG are the initials for The Next Generation of Genealogy Site Building a marvelous interface to create a website from one's personal desktop genealogy database. Indeed Darrin Lythgoes’ product allows folks to get the word out about their family trees, as you have done featuring your ancestor born in Blackerstone, Longformacus, Berwickshire, Scotland.
Ol’ Myrt here should have used the initials “TGN” to represent The Generations Network, the parent corporation of Ancestry.com, whose data center and corporate offices I had the privilege of touring yesterday.
Oh heavens! This goes to show you how exhausted Ol’ Myrt here was from yesterday's marvelous activities. I'll go update my blog immediately. Do accept this sincere note of appreciation for your insight.
Happy family tree climbing!
Your friend in genealogy.
