DearREADERS,
This past Sunday night found Ol' Myrt and Mr. DearMYRTLE online with other members of Second Life. We gathered at the Family History Centre there to discuss the process for clearing names for temple work.
Non-LDS readers may know that there are religious reasons why Mormons do family history research. In my case it was a joy to attend the temple in the place of my 2nd great-grandmother.

The advantage of a full-fledged genealogy management program interfacing with newFamilySearch is this ability to SHARE INFO back and forth. newFamilySearch isn't a substitute for good, old-fashioned research, but it does serve as a place to share information in arguably the largest lineage-based genealogy database.
You'll notice that my RootsMagic database of info on the ancestor is on the left side of the screen, and that newFamilySearch is on the right side of the screen.
DISCLAIMER: Please be advised that I have received a complimentary copy of RootsMagic, but that is the limit of compensation from RM.
Happy family tree climbing!
Myrt :)
