DearREADERS,
Ol' Myrt here is honored to serve on the advisory panel to assist Family Tree Magazine in choosing the newest top 40 genealogy blogs. Among the ones I've nominated for consideration are:
by GeneJ Composer (a Second Life avatar)
GeneJ is using her brand new blog as a workspace for developing proof arguments by including scanned images, and her suppositions as research progresses. I think the blog environment provides for peer review, attaching scanned images, revision of text, and is the right price -- free. For example, see GeneJ's:
- Mixing it up: the indirect evidence challenge The very act of composing the blog posting caused GeneJ to consider alternative thoughts and record groups than she had previously searched.
by Audrey Collins (who just happens to work at The National Archives, UK)
Exploring record groups, patron research challenges and general UK musings are the focus of Audrey's informative blog. Recent interesting blog posts include:
- A few pieces of paper tell a story
- Royal Naval Reserve records 1860-1908 now online
- Mappy Monday - London, the metropolitan maze
- American Civil War Graves in the UK
If my DearREADERS have a genealogy blog they'd like to suggest, Nominate a Family Tree 40 blog here. Qualifications and categories are found on here.
You can nominate your favorite genealogy blogs using our online form now through Tuesday, Nov. 30.

DearMYRTLE,
Your friend in genealogy.
I've had a lot of fun (and headaches sorting through trunks of photos and letters!) We have incorporated a lot of your suggestions and it has made our work a lot easier! Thanks, Chris

Thanks for sharing these, Myrt. They Came Before was new to me so I'm happy for the suggestion!
