This class includes hands-on demo and a live tour of genealogy destinations in Second Life.  Attendees who have laptops and have followed a prearranged sign-up process can visit ‘in-world’ during Ol' Myrt's presentation discussing:
  • What is Second Life?
  • How do you sign-up?
  • Where to go?
  • Who to "friend"
  • When are the meetings?
  • Why?
The WHY part is easy. We meet in Second Life for in-depth discussion of genealogy methodology, software, technology issues, brick walls, record groups, the Genealogical Proof Standard, organization and other topics of interest to beginning and intermediate family historians.

The Association of Professional Genealogists has a Second Life Chapter that meets monthly to discuss business practices, record groups, and practice new presentations for peer review. There will be a special session during the RootsTech 2011, projected to a live audience gathered at the Family History Library. The guest speaker will be Craig Scott, CG on the topic of Civil War Records. Tami Glatz, President Second Life Chapter APG will host the live meeting, and log in as /genie Weezles in Second Life.
