DearREADERS,Although
a co-founder, I stepped aside from direct involvement with BetterGEDCOM
last fall owing to health issues. Since that time, the group formalized into
the non-profit FHISO (Family History Information Standards Organisation),
and is working to develop standards that reflect:
- software and website data file sharing and management concerns
- end user requirements for seamless data transfer, and citations with document downloads, containers to share media files (photos, scanned images of source documents, etc.)
Personally, I still just want to:
- retrieve documents and appropriate citation data from websites
- share data seamlessly with my cousin Russ who uses a different genealogy program
- not depend on a single proprietary software or website to process my data transfers
Happy family tree
climbing!
