SNOWED IN? Join our hangouts today!

We're going to PRACTICE doing Hangouts on Air in "green room" (unrecorded) mode four times today! So this is your chance. Ya cannot do much else with activity in the US grinding to a halt due to unprecedented low temperatures and record snow falls. Schools and businesses are closed. Police advise folks to stay home off the streets for safety. In at least one state it is now illegal to be out on the roads. Things are tough, and folks are finding themselves at home with nothing much to do except huddle up to keep warm and keep the water pipes from freezing.

Cousin Russ and Ol' Myrt here are hosting 4 (count 'em FOUR!) "green room" (unrecorded) Hangouts on Air today. Here's the plan:

  • This is the link to the EVENTS PAGE of DearMYRTLE's Genealogy Community: https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/102461242403735457058/communities/104382659430904043232/events
  • You'll see the four different "Baby It's COLD outside" Hangouts on Air.
  • Click YES to add this to your personal Google Calendar or simply click on the title to comment. You will not be able to VIEW the Hangout on Air, since it is in "green room" (unrecorded) format. But you can JOIN the filmstrip panel as I will post the JOIN link in comments for the HOA.
  • These four "green room" (unrecorded) Hangouts on Air are specifically designed to help people get familiar with Hangouts on Air, adjusting their video camera and sound equipment.

So come on over. Ol' Myrt here is making hot apple cider and hot chocolate to take your winter blues away. It's easy and FUN! No pressure. Just "hanging out" with your genea-friends.

Happy family tree climbing!
Myrt :)
Your friend in genealogy.

  1. Are you going to repeat this sometime? I need to practice before the New England GeneaBlogger RootsTech Bash on the air. I got a camera and a headset from Santa Claus, so I'm all ready to go on the air!

    1. GLAD we were able to practice privately, Heather. Looking forward to the New England GeneaBlogger RootsTech Bash on air with DearMYRTLE's RootsTech 2014 Virtual After-Party. :)

  2. Hi Pat on your 'baby it's cold outside' hangout you and Russ showed off your headsets, what model is it and from whom did you get it seems pretty robust you sitting on it so often, headsets other than those for commercial pilots are pretty rubbish here and I'd like a good un', like to join one of these hangouts, the snow is creeping down the mountains here in Scotland lucky for me we are on the coast & I guess we'll only get it bad if the winds go round to the NE then instead of coming from the USA/Canada across a commpartively warm Atlantic it'll come across a cold Northern Europe from Siberia and that's a cold place in more ways than one

    1. We both use the USB headset called the Microsoft LifeChat LX3000. I've heard they can get it in Sweden, and hopefully you'll find it through Amazon.com UK.
