3rd Annual SHARE A MEMORY Contest

It's that time of year again! Time for our annual SHARE A MEMORY Contest. Yup! This is a win-win-win situation for you, your ancestors and your living family members. It's all about sharing a memory of an ancestor - not just names and dates. This year, why not be really creative and record a video, create a slide show or publish a book to share during the upcoming holidays?

HERE'S HOW to enter  the 2014 "Share a Memory" Contest:
OBJECTIVE: Create an intriguing object to tell a story about an ancestor, making it easier for the non-genealogists in the family to appreciate your mutual heritage.

HOW TO: Use technology wisely. Your 20134 "Share a Memory" project spotlights a specific ancestor and must include at the very least a document or photographic image of that ancestor. Your project can be:
  • a blog or web page posting for family members to view
  • a video saved on your YouTube Channel
  • an email you will send to your family members
  • a slide show your save on the web, say at Google Docs
SUBMIT: Post each entry ov3r in DearMYRTLE's Genealogy Community on Google+ located here:
Don't worry. When you click on the link above, you will be asked to log in to your Google account. (You'll want to have a Google account since you may then maintain a personal Google Calendar, use Google Drive to store your files, create word processing documents and spreadsheets using Google Docs, create a library of digital books over on Google Books, and, of course, Hangout out with Ol' Myrt here and +Cousin Russ during upcoming Mondays with Myrt.)
  • Limit one project per "share" post.
  • More than one project "share" may be submitted.
  • By entering the contest, you agree to allow DearMYRTLE and her daughter +Carrie Keele of to "share" your "share" in our blogs and on our Facebook, Twitter and Google+ channels.
  • Professional genealogical services websites may submit entries, but will not be eligible for prizes.
DEADLINE: 30 Nov 2014, so we can announce the winners during Mondays with Myrt - 1 December 2014.
JUDGING: The decision of the judges will be purely arbitrary. Chocolate bribes are welcome. No seriously -- the winner will be chosen at random, and the decisions of the judges are final.

PRIZES: The prize winners will be announced on Monday 1 Dec 2014 during Mondays with Myrt and in DearMYRTLE's Blog. Once the winners have been notified publicly, winners must submit to their full name, preferred email address and a valid US mailing address, unless delivers to your address in other parts of the world. The prizes include:

Full admission to the RootsTech 2015 conference, provided by FamilySearch specifically for this contest. Note the grand prize does not include travel, food or lodging expenses.

2nd Prize - Digital Video Camcorder such as 3.0" LCD Touch Screen 1080P Full HD DV Camera 16x Zoom Camcorder 270°Rotation. Add your own SD card, as this unit supports up to 32GB.

3rd PRIZE - Your choice of either a webcam or a USB headset such as:

or a
