DearREADERS,
There is a new Facebook Group set up by Billy Huffman here https://www.facebook.com/groups/612548515558308/ that is a rip off of Cousin Russ Worthington's
work. Administrator Billy Huffman has gone so far as to use for his banner
(Facebook calls it a Group Photo) Russ' screen shot directly from his
FTMUser blog post located here: http://ftmuser.blogspot.com/…/ftm2014-plan-workspace-overvi…
This isn't about competition, it's about unauthorized use of another person's work. Competent genealogists just don't do this sort of thing.

CALL FOR ACTION

CALL FOR ACTION
- NOTE: Russ has contacted Billy directly asking him to remove his graphic, but so far there has been no response.
- We must EACH report this group as a rip off: https://www.facebook.com/groups/612548515558308/
- We must EACH report Billy Huffman's profile as administrator of the rip off website.
- To summarize your complaint you may refer to this blog post's PermaLink: http://blog.dearmyrtle.com/2015/01/call-to-action-fake-facebook-group-rips.html

the offending image is gone now...
ReplyDeleteHas this been resolved? I don't see it at the page. Figured I might have to join to see the offending object, so I have a pending join. But since you brought this up publicly, I suspect he may not be accepting many pendings at the moment....
ReplyDeleteAnd facebook seems to make it *very* difficult for someone to report *someone else's* stolen intellectual property... Any good workarounds?
By the time I saw your call to action, the offending banner had been pulled (1945 hrs EST). Is there still a problem? I assume anyone can start their own FTM 2014 users FB page as long as they aren't using others material without permission. Without joining the closed group, I have no idea other material may be inappropriately used. Glad to complain to FB if still needed. This could happen to my FB surname page next.
ReplyDeleteWish I'd seen this earlier! Sorry I couldn't help but really glad it's resolved...
