Someone complained bitterly via email that Ol' Myrt isn't blogging as much as she is video blogging (or vlogging as it is called.) Well, we're just more into discussion rather than lectures. That's the beauty of Mondays with Myrt and our study group panels. People get to talk about research methods, and explore in real time specific records together.
We don't get this chance to discuss a topic when attending an "in person" genealogy society meeting, seminar or conference. There are announcements, and then a presentation with precious little time at the end for one or two questions from the audience.
Thanks to Google Hangouts, Ol' Myrt and her fellow panelists are able to share screens of scanned images, useful websites, etc.. Thankfully, all hangouts are automagically recorded without any extra effort on my part.
And thanks to Google Communities, we're able to aggregate and archive the comments posted before, during and after, along with the video video viewer for each session.
So you've probably heard that since early spring, Ol'Myrt is charging for her hangouts. Actually, we've adopted the "Pay What you Want" concept.
Hangouts: Pay what you want. So it's simple. If you value the work Ol' Myrt, +Cousin Russ and our beloved panelists do week in and week out on your behalf, please:
Check the GeneaWebinars Calendar for exact dates of DearMYRTLE study groups and Hangouts on Air, in addition to over 200 hours of online genealogy classes, webinars and tweetchats from other hosts and presenters in the next 12 months.
Happy family tree climbing!
