DearREADERS,
It was a privilege to have Tessa Keough join the group viewing Mondays with Myrt. Tessa's livestreamed session from SoCal Jamboree has received rave reviews. Tessa taught Cousin Russ and Ol' Myrt here how to use recorded Hangouts on Air (HOA), and for that we're eternally grateful. Tessa writes:
"Great HOA - so happy I had time this AM - so many great topics!"We talked about the recent History Channel broadcast of Roots (reimagined), the passing of Muhammad Ali and race relations here in the US and throughout the world. We put this in the context of True Lewis' slave ancestors, my murdered colleagues of my Mormon ancestors, and the terrible atrocities perpetrated by Hitler and his cohorts during WWII.
DearMYRTLE and Cousin Russ recognize the United Nations' International Decade for People of African Descent 2015-2024. We reach out to _all_ regardless of race, color, creed or national origin with support for researching family and documenting cultural inheritance. http://www.un.org/en/events/africandescentdecade/ Indeed as genealogists, we herald the discovery of heritage and relish cultural diversity.
We discovered Erin Jackson had a share cropping document from the 1950s. (Yes, the 1950s.)
We talked about a public post in the Evidence Explained Forum. Tony Proctor joined us briefly from Ireland. I call this "To cite or not to Cite - a conversation with Tony Proctor and ESM." You'll see from the hangout and my public Facebook post, Ol' Myrt here cannot help but be opinionated.
Sure you *could* watch the video of this edition of Mondays with Myrt here or on YouTube, but you'll want to log in at: http://hangouts.dearmyrtle.com/6-june-2016-mwm.html
so you can read all
the comments and links posted before, during and after the live
hangout. Add a few yourself, if you feel so inclined. It's all about
keeping the conversation and collaboration going!
Happy family tree climbing!
Myrt :)
