Announcing: GPS Study Group - 1 Feb 2017 Final Session

"Thrilling to say the least" writes one viewer of our 5-part GPS Study Group. Tomorrow finds us in the last session, and it will be a doozie. Our syllabus material is Chapter 5 "Writing It Up" from Genealogical Proof Standard: Building a Solid Case, 4th Edition Revised by Christine Rose.

Here's the link to the combined homework submissions with Ol' Myrt's comments:

Kate's homework
  • Clearly labeled Agnes as we know her maiden name and spouse
  • Simple proof statement example
  • Annotated footnotes
Megan's homework:
  • What to do when Ancestry.com embeds a FamilySearch image
  • How to craft a First Reference Note for a county marriage document

Sheri's homework:
  • The importance of strengthening evidence of sibling relationships

Marceline's homework:
  •  "Although Benjamin Horton never appears on a document with his father..."

Kim's homework:
  • Clues found in a receipt in the probate packet, where a guardian signs for Absalom's $300 inheritance from his grandfather.
Cheryl currently has poor interent access, so we will miss her.

Each of our study group panelists will receive a $15 Amazon gift certificate, as a small token of our appreciation for their efforts during this study group.
