HANGOUTS: We're good to go this week!

Google fixed their error-producing API script, and so DearMYRTLE hangouts are back in business. We are also happy to note that Business-Hangouts, our service provider, is "white listed" for the upcoming major hangout shift to "enterprise only" scheduled to take place April 25th. It was good to be part of the solution instead of just complaining about the problem. Thanks to Russ, Andy, Michael and Heather for keeping us posted and testing things out with us. And hats off to the good folks at for making things work as well.

With over 1.7 million enterprise users, Business-Hangouts enjoys the distinction of "#1 webinar software on Google Apps Marketplace." With many content providers, Business-Hangouts is thriving.

Cousin Russ and Ol' Myrt here have used Business Hangouts for a little more than a year now, and couldn't be happier. Unlike regular Google Hangouts we can:
  • Permit access to people with Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts in addition to Google. One need only use the latter if he wishes to appear as a panel participant.
  • Provide a registration confirmation email.
  • Provide reminder emails with your personal URL for viewing the hangout.
  • Keep the typed comments right next to the video recording of our live events.
  • Maintain statistics about attendee interest without paying for 3 different 3-party tools.
  • Protect our attendees from unwanted spammers with a blocking tool.
We could also readily provide paid attendance events with easy interface to our PayPal account. We don't use this feature, but it is easily implemented should a genealogy society with to employ this content delivery strategy.

We simply cannot say enough about the quality service and technical support offered by our friends at Business-Hangouts.

Hangouts: Pay what you want. So it's simple. If you value the work Ol' Myrt, +Cousin Russ and our beloved panelists do week in and week out on your behalf, please:

Check the DearMYRTLE Hangouts Calendar for upcoming study groups and hangouts. There you'll find links to the GeneaConference (in-person) and the GeneaWebinars Calendar with over over 200 hours of online genealogy classes, webinars, live streams and tweetchats from other hosts and presenters over the next 12 months.
