Here's the flip-through of the mini-journal and the ceremonial placement of the "We must get organized!" mini-journal sharing Blanche Myrtle (Jackson) Bennett Player's three compartment wallet and it's contents. To illustrate the point, I recall preparations for the annual 2-week trip to Orcas Island, where back in the late 1960s and early 1970s there was only one small grocery store.

Blanche would gather boxes of crackers, cereal, paper towels, napkins, paper plates and such staples as pancake mix and maple syrup. These were stacked in the dining room adjacent to the garage for ease of loading into the Jeep. She had water proof carrying satchels, extra beach towels -- all set for the proposed trip to the adjacent uninhabited Jones Island.

Although we were each responsible for packing our own suitcases, Blanche believed in being prepared with extra jackets, scarves, hats and gloves. A nighttime trip back from Roche Harbor on San Juan Island could get mighty cold in Dad's 18-foot SeaRay speed boat. He installed a heater, and we all helped put up the ising glass windows so the boat was could us keep as warm as possible.

Reviewing the journal, you'll see I've sketched out how my grandchildren are related to our beloved step-mother Blanche, and I explain how Uncle Mike, Aunt Sharon, Uncle Dan and Uncle Jim are related to us. It can get a tad bit confusing when our parents were married more than once.

I also organized three sets of photos for this mini-journal. And YES, I did label each on the back with the names of those in each picture. And there's a CHALLENGE for my grandchildren that involves map reading skill.

And YES, I did label all photos with the names of people appearing in them.
